Sunset Beach seemed like an aptly named location for a retirement condo, until the owners realized that they were still having too much fun living large to downsize just yet. Instead, they decided they were going to rent it out in the short term. To ensure that it would fetch top dollar, they wanted to invest some money into a refresh. The iDesign team observed that while the unit offered a spectacular ocean and mountain view, the layout did not do it justice. At the top of the list, therefore, was to open up the enclosed kitchen, which had the effect of transforming the entire living space into one huge vantage point from which to enjoy the view. All the finishes were updated and brightened up to go with the unit’s new breezy, beachy feel, with lots of modern additions to the primary bedroom and ensuite, such as a contemporary freestanding tub in place of the original drop-in. Additionally, the den was converted into another small bedroom to maximize the unit’s potential as a short-term rental.
